Inspired By: Looking Beyond Construction Costs

The Bjergsted Financial Park in Stavanger, designed by Helen & Hard, is a reminder that the value of architecture is not always visible when construction has finished. While we think the timber construction and design are stunning, what inspires us the most is the project’s impact on the people who use it.

According to the architects, the project has helped reduce employee sickness absence. Although it exceeded its original construction budget, the investment is expected to pay back over time through a healthier workplace.

This is a perspective we need more of in the industrial sector.

Too often, industrial buildings are evaluated on construction costs. But what if we also measured how they affect the people who work in them every day?

Better daylight, healthier materials, and well-designed workplaces are more than architectural features. They are long-term business investments that create value for both people and businesses.
