The project in Hillerød comprises the extension of an existing pharmaceutical warehouse for Novo Nordisk, with a total gross floor area of approximately 8,500 m², including around 1,000 m² of office facilities. The project has been developed based on the client’s clear ambition to combine high functional and technical requirements with an architectural expression firmly rooted in Nordic design principles. Norrplan has acted as architectural consultant and, in close dialogue with the client, has worked purposefully to translate these ambitions into a coherent and robust building complex.

The development accommodates warehouse and logistics functions for pharmaceutical products, along with associated technical installations. The office functions are integrated as a natural part of the facility, supporting daily operations, collaboration, and close proximity between administrative and logistical functions.

The architectural concept is based on a calm, rational, and cohesive building composition, where scale, proportions, and repetition are handled with Nordic restraint. The warehouse building is expressed as a horizontal volume clad in screen bricks in a dark grey-black tone, adding depth to the façades and creating a subdued industrial character. The base is executed in light grey concrete, anchoring the building to the ground and reinforcing its robust and functional nature.

The office building appears as an integrated part of the overall complex and is architecturally articulated through a consistent vertical rhythm of deep aluminium window profiles, which add relief, scale, and a clear structural order to the façade. The vertical articulation supports daylight performance, solar shading, and the overall architectural clarity.

The entrance to the office is clearly defined and serves as an architectural focal point for the facility. The arrival is marked by two prominent concrete wings framing a large, welcoming glazed façade to the stairwell. The entrance area provides transparency, orientation, and a clear transition between exterior and interior, in line with Nordic principles of openness and legibility.
