Inspired By: Mass Plywood

We are interested in how mass timber solutions can be used in industrial buildings. While these are traditionally built with concrete and steel, new projects show that other materials can also work well.

One project that inspires us is Freres Engineered Wood’s mass plywood warehouse in Oregon, featured in @Structure Magazine. Built almost entirely from mass plywood, it shows that engineered timber can be a strong and efficient solution for large-scale industrial buildings while also reducing carbon emissions.

According to @Freres, replacing concrete and steel with mass plywood reduced greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 429 metric tons, with a total potential carbon benefit of 1,539 metric tons for the project.

We see this as a great example of how alternative materials can help shape the future of industrial architecture. We will continue exploring how mass timber can be used as an alternative to traditional materials without compromising functionality, efficiency, or durability.
