A workspace inspired by nature
Through a 20-year-long collaboration, ak83 has led the design of JYSK’s iconic headquarters in Brabrand. The result is a workplace characterized by innovative thinking, vitality, and sustainable architecture.
In 2022, ak83 redesigned the building’s interior, introducing a new auditorium with an accompanying lounge area, and created a new main entrance and courtyard. The new design integrates with the existing structure, respecting its architectural heritage while incorporating more modern and sustainable features. The commitment to sustainability is evident in the energy-efficient features throughout the building. Colourful solar panels adorn the roof, and beehives in the surrounding garden, contributing to the biodiversity and ecological balance of the area.
The interior design is based on the harmony of nature, drawing inspiration from the elegance of bird feathers. Organic shapes soften the sharp lines of the structures, making the outdoor landscape an extension of the architectural vision. The new underground auditorium showcases an inspiring and functional design by incorporating shapes from the Danish nature. The wooden panels in the auditorium and lounge areas express this inspiration and contrast with earthy, dark tones on the walls and floors. The unique design creates a visually appealing environment and fosters a harmonious and pleasant workplace.
