Inspired By: Design for Disassembly
Inspired By: Design for Disassembly

Back in 2018, the Braunstein Taphouse and Community Centre in Køge challenged the idea that a temporary building has a limited future. Designed for disassembly by ADEPT Architects, it demonstrated how decisions made at the design stage can make future adaptation and material reuse possible.
As Anders Lonka, founding partner at ADEPT Architects, explains in the video, designing for disassembly is not only about reuse. It is also about reducing a building’s carbon footprint from the outset.
Industrial buildings are often designed for long service lives, but their use rarely stays the same. That is why we find this way of thinking so relevant. When we design with flexibility from the beginning, we extend the value of both the buildings and their materials.
