Maersk Taulov Dry Port

Maersk Pilot Project for a Global Standard

Maersk’s low-emission warehouse at Taulov Dry Port stands out as a striking architectural and functional landmark in Denmark’s logistics landscape. The building, with a total gross floor area of 39,300 m²—including 35,720 m² of warehouse space, 6,165 m² of cross-dock facilities, and administration across three levels—combines industrial robustness with modern, sustainable solutions.

The warehouse is built to BREEAM Excellent standards, ensuring zero-emission operations, integrating green energy from rooftop solar panels, and reducing harmful nitrogen oxides with Noxout roofing membranes. Its architectural design creates large, flexible spaces for logistics operations, featuring high ceilings, wide gates, and optimal adaptability for automation and future technologies, while serving as a visual landmark in the area.

The project has acted as a pilot, laying the foundation for Maersk’s global building program developed by Norrplan — a comprehensive plan for scalable growth. This technical and design standard manual defines everything from installation durability and material specifications to operational and design standards, ensuring that all future facilities—both in Denmark and internationally—can be built consistently with high quality, reduced complexity, and shorter construction times.

The architecture reflects the program: simple, functional, and durable, while integrating innovative and sustainable solutions. Maersk’s signature blue color is a strong, recognizable design element, blending with the building’s base in the area where office facilities are located.

Its strategic location near the motorway, railway, and Fredericia Harbor makes the warehouse a central multimodal transport hub where logistics and sustainability converge. The surrounding infrastructure supports electrification of trucks and private vehicles, while the warehouse design future-proofs flexible solutions for Maersk’s customers.
