New Landry Facility for Healthcare Region Zealand
Region Zealand is constructing a new hospital laundry facility to replace a previously burned-down facility. The new hospital laundry facility places special emphasis on robustness and cleanliness, and prioritizes sustainability with a focus on achieving DGNB silver certification.
The administrative section is designed as a low, rust-red building with large window openings, housing the entrance foyer, changing rooms, offices, meeting rooms, and a canteen. The building is constructed from CLT elements, which are not only sustainable but also create a pleasant indoor climate with their light and airy wooden surfaces. The staff has access to the surrounding green areas from the canteen, promoting a good working environment.
The production takes place in a large laundry hall with an adjacent technical wing. The laundry hall is designed with a simple, minimalist form and a horizontal, uninterrupted window band that gives the building a functional industrial appearance. The hall is built with durable materials to withstand the daily workflows of laundry delivery and collection.
In general, sustainable initiatives such as the use of CLT and materials with a low carbon footprint, as well as minimal surface treatment, are in focus. This aesthetic choice reduces operational maintenance costs while also protecting the environment.
